Her two WOOTTON sons went to live with friends or family named YEO and ALCOCK in Ontario, Canada. Mary Ann (Mayersbach) Wootton LAW is said to have received a pension from the Crown after her LAW husband's death. Mary Ann is descended from Alexander von MAYERSBACH who emigrated to England from Germany in the 1700's. If any of this sounds familiar, please contact me! Julianna Augusta KLOSS (daughter of a schoolmaster), b 1795 poss

Johann Martin MOHR left Thuringia to become the new
schoolmaster in a Saxony town, possibly Branderoda. He ended up marrying the former
schoolmaster's daughter, Julianna Augusta KLOSS. After Johann's death in 1840 from typhoid,
Julianna emigrated with most of their adult children to New York City in 1848. During the sea
voyage, the ship lost one of its sails and each passenger had to donate one article of clothing to
make a new sail. Their grandchildren spread out across the U.S. I hope to find their descendants!

OAKLEY
The info I have for this OAKLEY family comes from an obituary
published in the Attica News for Catherine (nee OAKLEY) TORPY who died on 20 Jul
1898. At the time of her death, Catherine and her husband Michael TORPY and two children
lived in Attica, Wyoming Co., NY. I believe Michael was originally from Hornellsville (Steuben
Co., NY). He worked for the Railroad, as did his father, James TORPY b 1825 in Ireland.
According to the obit, Catherine's mother, Mrs. OAKLEY, came
and stayed with her before she died. The obit did not mention her father who might have been
deceased or divorced, but did mention her husband Michael TORPY, their two small children
Mary Frances TORPY and Vincent James TORPY, and numerous siblings.
The Oakley siblings listed including Catherine, birth order unknown, are as follows:
