BuffNET Installation Instructions for:
iMac (MacOS 8.x / 9.x) Internet Setup Assistant

From the main FINDER screen...

• Click FILE - FIND. Search for "Internet Setup Assistant". Once it's been located, Double-Click it's icon.

• When presented with the Welcome screen, click the "Yes" button. When presented with the Internet accounts screen, click the "Yes"button again

• Introduction. Click the right arrow button.

• Configuration name and connection type. Type BuffNET and click the right arrow button.

• Modem settings. Should be correctly preconfigured. Click the right arrow button.

• Access Phone Number

  Below is BuffNET's Telephone number matrix - last revised March 2002. The local access dialup number will be dependent on your location and your local dialing area.

  Please consult your telephone book or your local telephone access provider to see which number is local for you. BuffNET will not be responsible for any long distance charges that may be incurred if you choose a non-local number.

• Your user ID is (given to you by customer service when you opened your account)

• Your password is (given to you by customer service when you opened your account)

• When you are done, click the right arrow button.

• PPP connect scripts. Select No and click the right arrow button.

• IP address. Select No and click the right arrow button.

• Domain Name Servers.

  • On the first line of the large box, type 205.246.19.12 and return.

  • On the second line of the large box, type 205.246.19.55

  • Type buffnet.net in for the domain name.

  • When you are done, click the right arrow button.

• E-mail address and password.

  • Your email address is xxxxx@buffnet.net (where xxxxx is your username).

  • Your password is your dial-in password.

  • You can leave the 'greater than' symbol in the last box.

  • When you are done, click the right arrow button.

  • Your password is (given to you by customer service when you opened your account)

  • When you are done, click the right arrow button.

• Your E-mail account and host computer.

  • Your email account is xxxxx . (the email name, not @buffnet.net)

  • The email host is buffnet.net.

  • When you are done, click the right arrow button.

• Newsgroup Host is news.buffnet.net. When you are done, click the right arrow button.

• Select the NO button. When you are done, click the right arrow button.

• Conclusion. Click the 'Go Ahead' button and your Mac will be ready for the Internet!
