Proxy Setup:
MS-Windows / Internet Explorer 5.5+
The configuration for Microsoft's Internet Explorer is fairly consistant through most versions since 5.5. If your configuration
differs, please email Technical Support and we will look into the changes and update this information.
- With Internet Explorer running onscreen, click
[TOOLS],
[INTERNET OPTIONS],
- Click the [CONNECTIONS] tab.
- Click on the "BuffNET" dialup adapter
- Click [SETTINGS].
- Uncheck [Automatically detect settings]
- Place a check next to [USE A PROXY SERVER].
- For the Server Address type
speed.buffnet.net.
- For the [PORT] type the number of the port you chose from before.
- Click [ADVANCED].
- Uncheck "USE THE SAME PROXY...."
- Clear the address and port setting on the
[SECURE] line.
- If there are sites that are not working correctly when sped up,
or that you do not want proxied or compressed, put the first part of the
URLs in the box just below these lines per the on screen instructions.
- Click [OK] on everything until you are back out of the configuration.
From that point on your web browsing will be sped up.
Also: To get IE accepting gzipped data, under
[INTERNET OPTIONS]
[ADVANCED],
check the option
USE HTTP/1.1 EXTENSIONS WHEN USING PROXY.
