BuffNET Setup Instructions for:
MS-Windows 2000

Click the <Start> button, click <Settings>, and choose <Control Panel>.

Double-click the <Network and Dial-up Connections> icon.

Double-click the <Make New Connection> icon, then click <Next>

Select <Dial-up to the Internet>, then click <Next>

Select <I want to set up my Internet connection manually>, or <I want to connect through a local area network (LAN)>, then click <Next>

Select <I connect through a phone line and a modem>, then click <Next>

In the Area Code field, type 716

In the Telephone number field, type your local access number from the following list:

Click the <Advanced> button.

Click on the <Addresses> tab

Click the <Always use the following> radio button in the DNS server address area, and add the following addresses:
Primary DNS server: 205.246.19.12
Alternate DNS server : 205.246.19.55

Click the <OK> button. Click the <Next> button

In the <User name> field, type your BuffNET username

In the <Password> field, type your BuffNET password, then click <Next>

In the <Connection Name> field, type BuffNET, then click <Next>

Where it says, <Do you want to set up an Internet mail account now>, click <Yes>, then click <Next>

In the <Display Name> field, type your name, then click <Next>

In the <E-mail address> field, type your email address, then click <Next>

Where it says, <My incoming mail server is a ____ server>, click the drop-down list and choose POP3

In the <Incoming mail server> field, type mail.buffnet.net

In the <Outgoing mail server> field, type smtp.buffnet.net, then click <Next>

In the <Account name> field, type your BuffNET username (do not include @buffnet.net)

In the <Password> field, type your BuffNET password. You can also check the box next to <Remember password> if you would like to have your password saved, then click <Next>

Check the box next to <Connect to the Internet immediately> if you would like to test the connection now.

Click <Finish>
